Lord Fauconbridge (1410 1463), leading the vanguard of Edward IV's (1422 1483) Yorkist army, orders his archers to shoot volleys of arrows and then retire. The battle, the largest and bloodiest to be fought on British soil, was a resounding victory for the Yorkists over the Lancastrian army.
