I believe this was meant to be made into a potholder, or perhaps a large pin cushion, but it was never backed (which I think is a good thing, as one gets to see the back!) It could be made into either, yet, but I might be inclined to frame it as is c. 1870s or so I believe but looking ultra modern. 4 1 4" x 4" and in very good condition, clean and crisp, with super saturated color and neatly hand stitched hem on reverse.
